Kale & Kiwi Green Drink

Why jump on the kale bandwagon?  Trends aside, it's one of the healthiest vegetables you can eat.  It can protect you from dying from cancer.  That's a big claim from a humble leaf.  But it's true.  It's a cruciferous vegetable, and like other veggies from the Brassica family (Brussels sprouts, cabbage, collards, and broccoli),  it is full of sulphur containing phytonutrients.  It's a great source of calcium, vitamins A & C, and even omega 3 fatty acids.
After a fun weekend with family, and one too many heavy (but delicious!) meals, I needed a cleansing powerhouse of a drink this morning.  I love kiwi with kale, the sour, sweet tastes perfectly cuts the taste of the kale.  Which is fabulous sautéed with garlic for dinner, just not my first choice before coffee!
      Ingredients~
3 Kale leaves
1 stalk of celery
2 kiwis
3 sprigs of parsley
1 green apple
1/4 cucumber
1 cup water
Blend all ingredients.  If you desire more sweetness, add a banana, green grapes, or both!

  1. Green drink enthusiasts give leafy green vegetables an added blow of antioxidants by accumulating a fruit base to their nutritious drink.
